Naraku disguised himself as Inuyasha in order to steal the Shikon no tama, or Jewel of Four Souls, from Kikyo. She thinking this is the real Inuyasha, she hunts him down and seals him to a tree. During the process Kikyo dies, and asks her younger sister, Kaede, to burn her with the Shikon no tama, so no human or demon can get a hold of it. In present day Japan, Kagome was off to school when her brother, Souta, told her that the cat went into the room where the Bone Eaters Well is kept. When Kagome gets the cat, a centipede demon grabs he and pulls her down the well. Kagome is now in Fedual Japan and 50 years has past since the incident between Kikyo and Inuyasha. Kaede later realizes that Kagome is the reincarnation of Kikyo, because she had the Shikon no tama inside of her. Kagome accidentally breaks apart the jewel while shooting an arrow at a crow that swallowed the jewel. Now it’s up to Inuyasha and Kagome to collect the Jewel Shards before they get into the wrong hands.
